Download Carrio

You need both: the Windows app on your PC and the Android app on your phone. They're free. The Android app is a beta you install from here, because it isn't on the Play Store yet.

Install on Windows

  1. Download itUse the Download for Windows button above, on your PC.
  2. Open itIf a blue box says "Windows protected your PC", choose More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows that for apps it doesn't recognise yet, because Carrio doesn't have a paid signing certificate.
  3. Allow it on private networksIf Windows asks, allow Carrio on private networks, so your phone can reach it.
  4. The QR code is waitingCarrio opens with a QR code for your phone. It starts with Windows from now on, and you can switch that off in its settings.

Install on Android

  1. Download the APKAn APK is an Android app's install file. On your phone, use the Download the APK button above. On a PC, scan the QR code with your phone instead.
  2. Allow the installAndroid asks you to let your browser install unknown apps. Allow it for this one.
  3. Install itIt should install like any other app. If Play Protect stops to ask about it, that's because the app is new to it, and if the APK came from this site, it's fine to carry on.
  4. Open CarrioIt goes straight to pairing.

Updates: when there's a new version, Carrio shows it on its home screen with an Update button. The first time, Android asks you to let Carrio install apps, and then it asks you to confirm the update. The help page has more on installing.

Pair them

  1. Open Carrio on your PCThe QR code is already showing.
  2. Tap Scan QR code on your phone
  3. Point it at the screenOr tap Type the code instead, and type the PC address and 6-digit code your PC shows.

And that's it.

The Windows app ready to pair: a QR code inside a countdown ring, three short steps, the PC address and a 6-digit codePairing: the phone's camera view lined up on the QR code shown on the PC, with Type the code instead underneath

Tried it on your phone?

It's a beta, so it hasn't met every phone yet. So far I've tested it on:

  • An Honor 600 on Android 16
  • A vivo phone on Android 12
  • A Windows 11 laptop, for the PC side

If you try it on yours, I'd really like to hear how it goes, good or bad.

Coming later

  • The Play Store version, which adds Open on PC: it sees what your phone is playing, so you don't have to share it.
  • An iPhone app.

No dates yet. If anything goes wrong in the meantime, the help page covers the usual bumps.

Carrio

Carrio moves the YouTube video you're watching from your Windows PC to your Android phone, with a tap or a button. Share a YouTube video to it on your phone, and it opens on your PC. It can send Chrome's front tab to your phone too.
